Environcom Appliance drop off point

Environcom makes it easier to dispose of your electrical waste and help address the issue of fly tipping of electrical appliances and supports the Circular Economy in Grantham

Like many other towns and cities, Grantham’s waste site is only open during restricted times disposing of your electrical waste is therefore sometimes very inconvenient. It also suffers from the plight of fly tipping; waste illegally dumped by criminals to avoid the cost of disposal.  This causes environmental harm as hazardous substances leach into the environment, and creates a clean-up cost, paid for by local residents through council tax.   Environcom is turning this negative into a positive by offering a 24 hour 7 days a week drop off facility at its site in Spittlegate Level, Grantham for domestic electrical items.  Any items dropped off will be examined, repaired and tested by Environcom to see if they can be given a second lease of life through one of its charity partners in the UK.  If not, the appliance will be fully recycled in accordance with the Environmental Legislation and the materials will be put back into manufacturing.

Cris Stephenson, CEO of Environcom stated “We hope this initiative will be seen by our local residents as a more convenient and environmentally beneficial solution compared to using the local Household Waste Recycling Centre fulfilling their duty of care, and also a credible alternative by those who may be tempted to dump their electronic waste. If it proves successful, we will be able to increase the number of local jobs and deliver a truly circular approach to dealing with electrical waste”
